My late Uncle, Emrys Lloyd Jones, was born one hundred years ago today ( 8 March, 1918) . He died far too young. On this his birthday, as always, he is not forgotten.

I am the daughter of John Richard Jones, the older brother of Emrys Lloyd Jones. My brother, born in 1950, is also named Emrys, in memory of his Uncle. I am proud and honoured to place a Poppy next to a photograph of my Uncle Emrys every year during the Remembrance Commemorations, and hope one day to visit his grave. God bless him and all those who gave their lives for our freedom. We will remember them.

Emrys was the uncle I never met, I remember how moved my father was to visit his brother's grave for the first time. I have promised to also visit to pay my respects and link his name on the cenotaph at Caernarfon to his resting place.

My grandparents never got over the death of my uncle Emrys. When I was a child I opened a trunk in the spare bedroom of me grandparents home and there was this beautiful red jacket still with the tissue paper on the buttons undisturbed since the day it was placed there. After the death of my grandfather my mother gave it back to the regiment. j
